Red-crested Turaco:   UK Status: Non resident, but can be found in zoos, tropical houses and other such centres.

Habitat: This bird lives mainly of fruit, seeds and berries, and some plant shoots and roots. These birds gather in flocks of up to thirty individuals, and only come down from the trees to eat or drink. Red-crested Turaco's are forest birds, and are commonly found along the length of the Angolan escarpment, and surrounding forests.

Breeding: Flimsy nests are built from twigs in trees about five to twenty meters off the ground. the adult pairs are monogamous, females lay two, or three off white eggs, which take three to three and a half weeks to hatch. As well as the parents feeding and caring for the chicks, sometimes other non breeding members of the flock help out too.

Comment: This  bird is the National Bird of Angola.
