Common Centaury:

UK Status: Resident.

Flowering Period: From June until September.

Appx Height: Up to 25cm.

Habitat: This is a plant of sand dunes, heaths and other grassy areas, where right soil conditions exist, preferring dryer soils types. Common Centaury has been used as a medicine for centuries, especially for stomach and digestion disorders.

Comment: This is a common wild flower throughout most of the British Isles, but is scarcer in Scotland.
